Some causes are: obesity, alcoholism, pregnancy and hiatus hernia.

Even if you have a hiatal hernia, most doctors say that if you lose weight, greatly decreased GERD.

The excess stomach acid. Forces at the top of the stomach into the esophagus, causing pain on swallowing, as the collapse of the esophagus. I was wrong. I take prilosec every day to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Now the counter. Good luck.
