Outdoor Gym Sets Canon Powershot S5 IS Or Nikon D40 SLR?

Canon Powershot S5 IS or Nikon D40 SLR? - outdoor gym sets

Canon PowerShot S5 IS 8 Megapixel or Nikon D40 6.1-megapixel digital SLR.

Now my Kodak point and shoot is not cutting. The concern is not about the price between the two. I am not a professional (although I do not plan on taking some classes). I'm decent photography and I would go even further in time. Here are my requirements:

Inside / outside photos of my 3-year-old son. I need something that will quickly understand the particular moment.

Interior photos of the party of my brother, SA basketball. My Kodak has not only good pictures in the gymnasium of the school. In addition, I take the pictures quickly and rather narrow.

Obviously, the SLR is likely to make the best for pictures. But I am not a professional (yet not), I will do in the situation, due to the use of the camera in the car until I am more familiar surroundings with different characteristics?

Any information would be nice!

Joe T is right.

You can forget the difference in the number of pixels, but.

The D40 has a sensor which is almost 15 times higher than 80% of P & S, all cameras

The D40 has an "Any Auto" mode (in the program or "P"), you can, until you learn to use on other parameters and characteristics of the device.

The cameras, the Canon S5, as most (probably all) S & P has a shutter lag of 0.8 to a total of 3 seconds, while the digital SLR cameras like the D40 shutter speed, the latency measured in milliseconds (quicker than the blink of eye). Capturing their third birthday, slapstick is almost guaranteed to get when you shoot at the peak of the action ... Sports photographers who make us.
